There’s times when the past stirs and my world turns into Raccoon City – streets burning and undead rising around every corner. Those are the times I find comfort in one of my favourite heroines and the necklace that reminds me of her quiet strength and resilience. Jill Valentine. A survivor. Like me.
Surviving Raccoon City – Somehow I’m Still Alive
Jill Valentine is not just a survivor in a video game — she’s a mirror for the nightmare I have survived. And watching her navigate Raccoon City, facing impossible odds and a relentless Nemesis, I see more than a hero; I see someone who embodies the courage it takes to confront your own fears. For me, the zombies in Raccoon City aren’t just enemies to fight — they’re a reflection of my own fears and a past that is both dead and undead.

For the moments when even the strongest need someone. No questions asked.
Scars of Survival
Jill doesn’t come out of Raccoon City unscathed. The battles she survives leave marks — physical, mental, and emotional — and yet she keeps moving forward. That’s what makes her story feel real to me. Survival isn’t about coming out unscathed; it’s about seeing your scars as a part of your story and still finding the courage to face the next challenge. To fight again. In Resident Evil: Dead Island, she returns to fight despite everything she’s endured, proving that resilience isn’t about never falling — it’s about standing up again. And it reminds me that survival isn’t just escaping danger — it’s learning to keep moving forward, no matter how many times the undead rise.
For me the necklace is a small reminder that I’m still here, still fighting. And above all, it’s a reminder that I am a survivor. Like Jill.
